Hum-Tum

July 21, 2008 · 14 Comments

This means “Me and you” in Hindi….so Val and her sis spent this weekend catching up on another of their vices…Bollywood flicks…so those watched include: Hum-Tum, Mangar Padeley, Don, and other majinas I can’t spell out here…yeah we got a 20 in 1..abit of a rip-off coz the Hindi films are so long in reality we had 10 movies boasting a part 1 and 2…

Have to say I was quite impressed…I used to watch the movies when Metro used to bring them on Sunday afternoons..they all featured some form of dancing..and element of revenge..and some badly acted action scenes..the kind where you hear the blow before the person is actually hit…

But something I noticed in the films we watched….the Bollywood scene has really chanukad…I mean the action scenes actually look realistic..I mean..take Don for instance..a typical action movie..I was quite riveted…from fighting for a parachute mid-air..to cliff top fighting scenes…DRAMATIC!!!!!! This was the only movie which didn’t have a love story element there…I was jazzed!!!

Another thing I noticed…those guys like to base their movies all over the world…I mean we went from Canada, to London..to Paris..then err..back to Mumbai and Delhi…I don’t get why its still a status symbol to say you’ve been abroad…or mebe thats just me..

The usual singing minstrels..the outrageously gorgeous women were a must…I mean those women are hot! (permit a few jealous thoughts here and there)…

Something that jazzed me was that they actually translated the songs as well..I was used to seeing subtitles for the movies but not for the singing scenes..all I can say is I can see why approx a fifth of the worlds population live in India..coz those song lyrics..Gatho!!! I advise all men to sit down for a session of a Hindi film..with a notebook and pen..and write down those lyrics..and thank me later…Women, when those lines work for you…needless to say I shall be at that wedding with a huge hat (á la Victoria Beckam at the Cruise wedding…)

So yeah..that was my weekend….

Now back to other business..my beloveds and I were having a discussion..and this is the question for you bloggers…what is the right time to bring up the “L” word??? And why do some people feel the need to pressuring their other halves to say it first so that they can be comfortable saying it??? I mean, I’ve always thought that if you feel you love the person, you should say it when it feels right to you…ama???

As usual..shout outs..This time to the Todo Sobre Unit…for listening and providing me with drama..We rock!

Whats on:

  • Around my way-Talib Kweli ft John Legend
  • No more tears -Teedra Moses
  • Again- John Legend
  • Kaya- Bob Marley
  • Sunshine- India.Arie

    i has boots!

Indian movies… rocketh… sometimes…. all that singing can get to a body!

when to say the “L” word.. when u sure what the response is gonna be.
Getting shocked (when the peep runs away) isnt exactly what you aiming for when you declare love, is all im saying.

However, if twas your intention to scare the person away…this might work as well.

    waiit…think i just created a qn for myself…brb

Loving the playlist: “Wake up and turn I loose…”

As for the L word – different strokes for different folks.

I like to hear it occasionally, then sometimes I’m sad or insecure and I want to hear it all the time. A lot of the time, I’m good with not hearing it at all, because actions speak louder than words.

    I am co-signing with P’sMomz on that songlist Val….
Heck i am always co-signing with you Val on your songlists!!!

    No doubt!

the L-word is surely said after watching certain things about the person…
a certain natural demeanour about them that says they are comfortable with you…
he/she does/ asks things for you, about you that truly amaze you!

basically what actions can you see that match what the other person says….

I am here by me’eslf chuckling at grabbing a pen and a pad at the Hindi movie…
    ForShizzzzzo Val

    Hehehehe

    just playing

oh, the post i meant to talk about was “the_spot”

The last indian anything I watched was Ramayan, so clearly, not in a position to comment. Will make an effort to re acquaint myself with them movies.

‘L’ word? mmmmmh! How about never? For some reason saying that word makes me feel kinda vulnerable, so I tend to go round in circles around it, until it comes up, that is from the other party. But will never pressure them to say the L word.

Ok, gal scene clearly huh? But then, I will skip the indian manenoz there and just head to the Songs… I looooooooooove that music, You are so on point! Every single one of them is a favourite on my list.

@ Zax….leo the shuffle thingie was so working for me..glad you like it

@ PinkMM..ebu watch Bollywood Classics II…(thats the name of the DVD)…I think if you’re not ready to say it..then don’t force yourself..methinks you’ll jua when you are.

@ B2B..myself and yourself are usually (okie 99% of the time) in sync music wise..goes bila saying…Agree with you here..coz your comment shows exactly what I meant (ie bn ready to say the “L word” part)…when you watch a Hindi film..you’ll tell me whether you need a pen and paper..as well as a good grip on the pause button :)

As for your comments on “The spot” I just wasn’t sure what you meant..still analysing it.

@ Petesmama..glad you like the music…as for the L word bit..agree with the actions speaking louder than words bit

Donlt they sing all through the films?

The right time to say the L word, (kwanza which one is the L word, is it loser, lesbian, leave me alone, lala salama), yes but the right time to say the L word is at 11.34a.m. on Thursday morning, it has to be the third Thursday of the month and you have to be facing east.
