Was watching Churchill….this particular episode is funny…reminds me of how the ndombolo craze had hit people at home a few years back….
So in a spirit of nostalgia, decided to look for some of my favourite ndombolo songs…feel free to add links to your own. And if you feel the urge to get down and dance, don’t feel strange…that craze affected me this morning as well
Koffi Olomide- Ultimatum
Koffi Olomide- Loi
Awilo Longomba- Karolina
Awilo Longomba- Coupe Dibamba (Who can forget this song surely?)
Tabu Ley- Muzina
Edited
Magic System (Premier Gauo)…Thanks for reminding me King and PinkM
And this one is just for you 3TOC—-> Kanda Bongoman -Inde Monie
There are loads more..but I ‘m tired of adding videos…so just mosey along to Youtube okie? And yes…the songs are long! You think the song is over, only for some drums to kick in, and a guy with a soft voice starts singing all over again..lol
I still sing along to these songs even though I don’t understand what they mean..grasp at the ONE French word I hear..like ” Attention!”…and still shake my hips with abandon even though there is no way I can top the women who dance in these videos. Do they have bones??? (Val wonders)

Someone pick me up.
hehehe….any volunteers?
This what you call “the golden oldies” . I am hanging around here for a bit.
Feel free!
My nephew at the age of 4 was beaten by his dad for singing along to Koffi Olomide’s ultimatum. He listened to the radio ALOT with the mbooch.Anyway from that day they were banned from listening to that particular radio station. Funny thing was he then started singing Indian songs- it was too funny.
Hehehe….but I like Indian songs also..but thats a funny story…what did the dad say?

Muzina and Coupe!!! Wow! this reminds me of a time i had a brother.
Errr, where is he now?
Would go listen to these in his house and dance along. Would die of laughter watching him shake his imaginary hips. He was so thin!!! Ok, I bet he still is.
Good times.
For me right now, Gauowo (sp) by magic system got me shaking my non existent booty.
Added in that song for you…so dance away hun

oh gosh, yes! the ndombolo craze…my dad adored Muzina and Loi. then my uncle it was Coupe Dibamba. Magic System were great and famous, i mean, even i liked them, that says it!
I see you’ve fikad safe and sound huh?? Enjoy the music

I loved Loi.
Koffi’s deep voice just amuses me in this song
And Coupe Dibamba rocked my youth. And how can I forget the gap in the teeth of the toothy Kanda Bongoman’s grin when he rocked his baggy pants to Inde Moni?
This was a blast.
Thanks Mama P

But ever heard of ”Mobutu Seseseko” of Franco aka Luambo Lwanzo Makiadi?
There are very good songs of guyz who passed through TPOK jazz band Tabu Ley Rocheauro included and as if that isn’t enough take your time and listen to Kimpa kisangameni of Franco and you will not dare go for other music.
cheers!!
