You know, speaking of that getting fit thing, going to the gym and the stress of it…I wonder what all the fuss is about sometimes.
Health, plus the endorphins you get after a work out…(the pain comes the next day..tehehe)
I mean, what’s the end game? Trying to keep fit for the sake of prolonging or living a healthier lifestyle is just a red herring – ask the guys who get dragged under a bus and get short changed in life before their time comes.
True..death can happen anytime..but si while you’re alive you might as well make the best of it?
Besides, there are no prizes for your tombstone saying “Here in lies so and so…the fittest corpse in this graveyard”….
LOL!

LOL at Darius Stone.
Sorry for the pain, but I think gym is good for one superficial reason, increase the hotness, and one real reason, to increase energy levels.
Okie will remember that next time I think of going to work out..
I don’t swallow the longevity one, because going to the gym could kill you. That equipment is deadly.
Not to mention the odours from over-enthusiasts..uurggh!

You’ll get past the pain, then you’ll thank yourself.
Go Val.
Thanks for the support King

Venus.
If the superficial reason for going to the gym is feeling hot, there must be a simpler way.
Like what?? Do share!
Surely, why use log tables for mathematical calculations when someone was kind enough to invent a calculator?…
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not anti-exercising….matter o fact, I have a mini gym in my garage if you can call a treadmill and exercise bike a collection, but my point is the obsession that we sometimes develop for things in life including the dreaded gym.
Okie true if you get obsessed then there is a problem….
There are alternatives out there that are actually enjoyable and don’t induce pain….like sex for example – exercises all muscles in the body (and the mind too).

I refuse to do the gym, mainly because thinking about it keeps me fit.Sort of the way the fear of failing exams kept you reading.
Still doesn’t make any sense to me..hehe..
The only reason I will go into a gym is to get out of the rain. Having said that I swim to keep fit (but not in winter- indoor pool or not! hakuna!)
Darius Stone // January 29, 2009 at 8:21 pm |
LOL @3TOC. I can picture you haggling over temporary membership at the nearest gym while its chucking down out there…if only the poor guy at reception knew you weren’t even interested and was just trying to get the hell out of the rain.

I’m waiting for @Darius to give his simple solution for hotness.
I’m one of those who have paid membership fees countless times, only to quit after day 1. Zero motivation.
LOL..
Darius Stone // January 30, 2009 at 12:47 pm |
@Venus and Val (since you also asked)
My simpler solution is just being yourself. Going to the gym doesn’t make you any hotter than you already are…and if a man is vvain enough to think that, then you need to follow Snoop’s advice and drop him like its hot.
Okie for me I’m not doing this for a man…..just for myself..
I take the view that there are more important things in life to stress about.
True…but good health is important as well….
..And pole sana for your membership fee being wasted….if its any consolation, I know many women who’ve even forgotten that they actually paid the membership fee…
Ati forgot? But then again that happened to my pal as well….
Darius Stone // January 30, 2009 at 2:42 pm |
@Val…yes health is important, and like with many things, there’s more than one way of maintaining good health…a less painful way of doing it seems a smart idea – but I also advocate for moderation in balancing the different ways of keeping healthy.
Venus // January 30, 2009 at 7:57 pm |
@Darius, it’s not for the guy, the hotness is for self esteem. Some people feel hotter when they have more meat on self, others do when thin as a rake.
Darius Stone // January 30, 2009 at 9:03 pm |
Venus…I understand.
I guess I’m just being pragmatic in how to achieve that self esteem…pain wouldn’t be my natural choice if moderation in other things provides a viable way to achieve that end result.
But seeing that “hotness” is relative (one mans meat is another mans rake – you will hopefully forgive the pun here), I would hazard a guess that self esteem is psychological….
