Whenever you think you’re having a bad day, try and count your blessings…and remember that there are people out there in a worse position.
Reading about the man who was stabbed to death while walking with his 3 year old girl. They were on their way to the hospital as the wife had just given birth to a baby boy…
“The little girl was left standing in horror as paramedics desperately tried to save her father’s life on the pavement in west Croydon, south London. The pair were travelling to the nearby Mayday Hospital where her baby brother had been born.
Detective Chief Inspector Cliff Lyons, who is leading the investigation, said the circumstances of the murder were “particularly tragic”.
He said: “This was a shocking attack in a public place in the early evening. The victim’s three year-old daughter was with him when he was attacked, though fortunately she wasn’t physically injured.
A security guard at a nearby office described how he took the little girl away. He said: “I said she shouldn’t be watching something like that. I asked around to see whose child she was and somebody said she was the victim’s, so I took her away into our building.”
He said that the three-year-old was “in shock, her eyes were wide open”. She was muttering under her breath occasional words like “mum” and “mayday”. The guard watched paramedics treating the victim for a long time before the man died in front of his eyes.

Are people going mad? How in the world do you stab a man and leave him for dead while his little girl is just standing there? Watching you but unable to understand what is going on? How do you sleep at night? Seriously? I’m sure the medical staff and passers-by may NEVER forget the look on the girl’s face.
This is one family that definitely needs prayers and miracles. I mean one minute they are so happy, celebrating the birth of a new baby…next minute they are wondering where to start….funeral, trying to pick up the pieces of their shattered life, wife becoming a single mom just like that..
There needs to be a special part in jail reserved for this man (the murderer). One where he suffers from excrutiating pain for the rest of his miserable life!

I do agree, situations like these do make us realise that we are a big bunch of whiners.

For the wife, it is traumatizing to have your new born baby in the cot next to you, your 3 year old daughter with psychiatrists down the corridor, and your husband in the morgue in the same hospital.
Even the cops and paramedics involved may need counselling dealing with this one.
And the guy was only 26.

To think that society or God would ask for the little girl to develop into a well balanced woman in future is such a tall order!!
And yet, life will bring her windows of opportunity to know that the violence meted to her family that fateful day isn’t all prevailing in frail humanity..we can only pray that these opportunities are what she grasps and holds onto…TIGHTLY!

That guy’s story hurt me. Imagine the image the baby girl will live with for the rest of her life…And he didn’t even get to see his new born…
Life.

Val, this is not a new occurrence, sad as it is.
I have a friend who was shot dead by thugs in his own house. He was watching cartoons with his son in the late afternoon. The thugs didn’t steal a single thing from the house…and his 7 year old son witnessed the whole ordeal, they didn’t address him or anything.

maybe thinking of other people’s extreme situations makes us appreciate ‘our little issues’..but i think that just assuages (not sausages!) the negative feeling…a gentle uplift like a bra…never really solving the problem!

as well he should! i forget where i heard this, but it’s just now running thro my mind: “the more i think about things, the more i see no rhyme and reason to life. no one knows why some things work out and others don’t.”
