Day 1 of the fruity adventure

April 2, 2009 · 12 Comments

Breakfast:

breakfast

Doesn’t look very appetising does it? I mixed red and green grapes, apple and orange and mango juice. Despite the colour, it actually tasted ok. Drank about 2 glasses of that mix. Then had a hot cup of tea after though (Ketepa to cleanse the palate..hehe).

Mid-day snack:

Cup of camomile, honey and vanilla tea. I thought by this point my resolve would have broken down..and I would have rushed in for a slice of toast with peanut butter (drool)..but I didn’t. Moving on….

Lunch:

Threw in some banana, pear, apple, mango yoghurt in the blender and whizzed for a smoothie. This mix was quite thick, so adding some water helped. Made about 2 tall glasses, which I had to gulp down quickly coz I was rushing to class.

Snack:

Banana….was happily nibbling on my banana when I saw some girls snacking on crisps and chocolate. How do they eat like that and remain so thin? and I do mean thin..the biggest among the usual group of snackers is a size 10. No I’m not bitter in the least!

Confession time: Hurt my foot during the course of the day, either pulled something or twisted something. All I know is that it hurts, and hurts like hell when I walk. So I hobbled home in pain, feeling sorry for myself..and did the inevitable. Broke the diet/detox :(   Cheese has the ability to sooth many of the issues in my life…from physical to mental pain. So I went and had a cheese sandwich. Sigh..it was yummy…But yeah, that was the only slip-up..will try and do better tomorrow.

Dinner:

This was a smoothie made from apple, pear, raspberries, clementines and orange and mango juice. Threw in some ice cubes as well and whizzed away! I forced one of my friends to partake of one of my creations..which was good and it meant I wasn’t suffering on my own. Until they decided the smoothie wasn’t enough and began to make an omelette infront of me. Filled with all the good things I like; mushrooms, onions, peppers, ham….I wanted to cry coz it smelled so good! (Yes 3TOC I get the Madagascar reference now).

I’ll try some vegetable based ones kesho after I go to the local Tesco….I saw a recipe for carrot, ginger and celery juice…hmm.

As I type, I’m trying not to think of food…I’m planning to go and watch Chocolat after this…but it probably isn’t a good idea..the mix of chocolate and Johnny Depp will probably have me straight in the kitchen..

Anyhu…that was day 1..not too bad (except for the cheese slip-up). Let’s see what tomorrow brings.

Val FM:

  • Crazy in love- Beyonce
  • Bittersweet symphony- The Verve

I’m not good for you where discipline is concerned, but really it’s alright to turn to comfort food when you really need it.
You’re the best when it comes to the other issues though.

Congrats on a fabulous day 1. Keep it up.
    Thanks..

Mama mia, your smoothies look so good, I am driving over. Do not worry I will leave the macdonalds in the car but that smoothie looks so good.
Feel free to join in….but why are you torturing me with thoughts of cheese and chips? Read my reply to your last comment

Good going. And you know what it is okay to have the cheese- let’s just say you were getting your calcium portion of the day.
    I agree whole heartedly!

Gosh i feel so guilty for the juicy bun i have just washed down with extra sweet coffee. In my defense, it was free!
Don’t feel guilty…food is meant to be enjoyed!

Is this detox or a regular thing?

val, you need to get yourself some grass. Its great for solving fibre problems. i advise you stay away from most things rooty i.e. cassava, lumonde, that stuff you them uproot in the gods must be crazy, and ground nuts.
all the nitrogen in those legumes causes you bad breath and and bad you odour in the you know where

Do my eyes deceive me or is Spartakuss suggesting you hang out in your front yard and graze?
